Chapter 10

In this chapter, the children of General Amadeus are kidnapped and hidden in grain bags by criminals, while their worried parents and the police scramble to find them. The Mellower, a Praise Singer who witnessed part of the incident, suggests hiring the Ear, the Eye and the Arm detective agency to locate the missing children. Meanwhile, the children endure a frightening journey through a desolate area called Dead Man's Vlei, held captive by their kidnappers.

Chapter 16

The detectives Ear, Eye, and Arm investigate the disappearance of three children linked to the Blue Monkey gang but find their trail cold. In a tense encounter at Mr. Thirsty's beer hall, they confront tsotsi criminals and an old woman called Granny, leading to a knife attack narrowly averted by the bartender. The arrival of General Matsika escalates the situation, revealing the involvement of a significant figure known as the She Elephant and hinting at a deeper conspiracy involving the Masks seeking children to adopt.
