Randolph Carter dreams repeatedly of a magnificent, mysterious city on unknown Kadath but is unable to reach it. Defying warnings from the priests Nasht and Kaman-Thah about the dangers of seeking the Great Ones and the forbidden realms beyond, Carter embarks on a perilous journey through the dreamlands, including the Enchanted Wood inhabited by the secretive Zoogs, in search of the elusive city and its gods. Along the way, he gathers cryptic knowledge and allies, preparing to confront cosmic and existential threats beyond human understanding.
