Chapter 8

In this chapter, Cadderly and the dwarves Ivan and Pikel confront an invisible imp named Druzil controlling skeletons in a crypt. After Cadderly successfully poisons and incapacitates the imp, the skeletons lose their coordination and are defeated, but Pikel succumbs to poison and dies. Meanwhile, a pack of ghouls is drawn to the crypt, attacking a priest and searching for the source of necromantic power, while Danica and Newander prepare to face the undead threat, highlighting the pervasive danger of undead creatures and the struggle to maintain natural order.
