In this chapter, Giadoc inhabits an alien body named Doctordan via the Beam and navigates the complex, hostile social and mental environment of this alien world. He encounters various alien minds, including hostile and caring ones, learns to manage the alien body and its physical limitations, and begins to understand the experimental context called 'Project Polymer.' Despite the alien hostility and his initial disorientation, Giadoc resolves to maintain the body until the Beam returns, gaining insight into the alien culture and physiology.
